Warmer weather brings back fleas and ticks

The rest of our day was a pretty normal day for us here. All of our doggies really enjoyed the weather--sunny and warm (almost 70 degrees)--just perfect. We did lots of brushing during caregiving rounds, and we are starting to see more fleas and ticks on some of our doggies as the weather gets warmer. We had applied this new (new-to-us) Promeris flea drop medicine, but it really doesn't seem to help as much as Frontline did. Next time we order, we will go back to Frontline, because even though it's a little more expensive, it seems to work better on our doggies.

Puppy Oscar has his neuter surgery

Last night overnight man, Randy, brought Puppy Oscar inside our hospital trailer because this morning we were planning to take Oscar to be neutered. Randy removed his water bowl from his crate at midnight and didn't feed Oscar this morning. Jorge took Oscar a little after 8 a.m. to Friends of Animals of Cedar Creek Lake (a low-cost spay/neuter clinic in Gun Barrel City).

Even though we got Oscar to the clinic early, he still had to stay all day today because they were so busy. I called and asked about Oscar several times, and on my 3:30 call they said they still hadn't been able to get to Oscar yet. It was around 5:30 p.m. when I finally sent Roberto to pick up Oscar, who was then ready to come home, wearing an e-collar, of course, and not liking it at all, poor fella. Oscar will be staying inside our hospital trailer until he heals from his neuter surgery.

Oscar doesn't know what has just happened to him, but he hurts, and is not happy about his tight-fitting E-collar.
