Anthony comes home after his surgeries
At the end of a long day of hard work here at the shelter we went to the clinic to pick up our Anthony-boy, and oh my, Anthony really looked like he'd been through a lot! We were very amazed to see all the shaved spots on Anthony, his stitches and that he is missing a piece of each side of his tongue.

Fortunately the doctor was sure the growths she had just cut off of Anthony were all benign, so they didn't think they needed to send any of the growths off to the lab to be checked. The doctors removed the cyst from the back of Anthony's head near his ear, the mole on his back and the two growths from his tongue, which they had cauterized. Anthony has to wear an E-collar and we really have to keep an eye on him, poor guy, but he was very happy to be back at Straydog, and he doesn't really seem to be bothered by any his incisions and cuts. We are to keep Anthony on pain pills and antibiotics, and we are to keep his incisions clean. We will also feed Anthony only canned food, so he won't hurt his tongue or make it bleed. I feel so bad for Anthony. Susie was sure happy to see him back home, but not Rex, who has been staying right beside the kennel where we had Susie and now have Anthony and Susie. There's been quite a bit of growling and barking between the two fellows.
