Harley moves to a stand-alone kennel to try to curb his aggressive behavior

Over the past few weeks Harley has become aggressive during morning feeding (our five a.m. breakfast). We have been having trouble with him only in the morning before first light. Every time the feeder lays down Harley's bowl, Harley eats okay as usual, but then when the feeder comes back around to try to pick up Harley's empty bowl, Harley tries aggressively to bite the feeder, and he has been starting to get worse and worse about this. I finally told every feeder not to worry about picking up Harley's bowl after breakfast, that we would get the empty bowl later on after we get some daylight. Then after it gets light, Harley is different and we don't have any problem with him. But when it's still dark and the feeder goes to pick up Leo and Freckles' empty breakfast bowls in the kennel next door to Harley, Harley tries to get at the feeder (or Leo) through their common fence. We don't understand what the deal is with Mr. Harley when it's still dark outside, but I've decided to move Harley to a single, stand-alone kennel--a kennel that does not have a common fence with any other kennel. After thinking about the options we decided to switch Tiger and Harley because in the past we had Tiger in Harley's current kennel next to Leo and Freckles, and she never had a problem with Leo or Freckles. Tiger's current kennel is a single stand-alone kennel where Harley won't have any neighbors within a few feet of his fence. He will have Buster & Dixie as his neighbors on one side and Thunder & Stormy on the other side. So we switched kennels for Harley and Tiger, and even though Harley and his new neighbors started barking at each other, they can't get close enough to each other to do any harm. Even Zack barked at Harley, the new guy on the block, but everybody is way too separated to have any real trouble. We hope now that Harley will be better living in this stand-alone kennel.

Tiger's now back next to Leo and Freckles.

Peppy is doing well and is enjoying herself

It was sunny and warm today (with a high of 84 degrees), and Peppy, our newest rescue, had a nice sunbath on the deck right outside in our  main hospital trailer door. She was very cute.

Travis seems to have recovered from having chewed up and swallowed some wood

Pup Travis, who chewed up and swallowed some pieces of wood yesterday, is doing okay today. I didn't find anymore pieces in his stool, and he hasn't vomited anymore since yesterday. He is still having diarrhea, but I think this is good for now, since he isn't experiencing any constipation that might have been caused by the pieces of wood, which are probably still passing through his digestive system, poor fella. Another good thing is that Travis is eating his regular meals again, so he must feel a lot better today. He doesn't seem to feel sick at all, he is acting his normal self again.

Both Anthony and Susie are doing well

Sir Anthony and Susie are doing very well. yesterday after the shock of all of us seen Anthony I just couldn't stop thinking on how bad he looked, but again he seems to feel good and doesn't seem to be bothered by all his incision or anything. Anthony is eating, drinking and taking his meds with no problem at all. Anthony is still a very strong older doggie.

Anthony lies comfortably on his bed in Hospital II.

Coco will be on the Saturday Adoption Day roster tomorrow

Christine, Coco's mom, called us today asking if we were going to take Coco to Adoption Day this Saturday, since (as Christine has been reading in our updates) Coco has been doing well and now has a kennel mate. I couldn't think of any reason why we couldn't, so I told Christine that we would put Coco on the roster. Christine was happy to hear this and said that she would be at our usual Plano, Texas Petsmart tomorrow volunteering to help us out at Adoption Day. I thanked her and told her our Adoption Day crew would see her there.
