Juana reports ...      Edited and posted by Bill

Light rain off and on till after three p.m. when the heavy rain hit

We were expecting it to rain very hard all night long and this morning as the forecasters had predicted storms were coming our way, but lucky it didn't rain during the night, and we got through our morning feeding with no rain, and our doggies all ate their breakfast without a problem. The big storms that were hitting Dallas (about 80 miles to the northwest) were moving toward the northeast and were sliding very slowly in our direction and didn't reach us till after three p.m.

Thanks to Volunteer Linda

Early this morning Mrs. Linda P. arrived to continue helping us filing correspondence in our big filing cabinet. She knows the routine now, and she is really getting us caught up on this chore, and we thank you, Linda.

Volunteer Linda files correspondence for us.

Today's vet visits: Mary and Peppy

Because Mary has not stopped limping even after having been given pain pills with her meals for a couple of days, we're pretty sure now that it's not just a bruised knee or leg. I called the clinic, and they said that they could fit us in this morning. I also asked if we could bring Peppy in to get the stitches removed from her incision as it has been two weeks now since Dr. Terry did the surgery to take off the growth on her forehead just above her right eye, and Peppy is looking very good now.

"I don't need to see the vet," says Peppy after Juana woke her up to take her to the clinic.

Mary walks to the van, not putting much weight on her leg.

I left Straydog at about 9:30 with these two girls in the van and headed for the clinic. I was very afraid that Mary might have a torn ACL at her age, and I was praying all the way to the clinic that this wouldn't be the case. Peppy rode up front with me right by my side (not in a crate) looking at me as if she were wondering why I was praying. Or maybe she knew exactly what I was asking for in my mind. We used our donated mini-van today since our bigger van is at the shop getting the driver side door fixed after the wind caught it the other day and bent the door open too far. Peppy was a very good girl as she tried to get on my lap.
