Lacie has a bad car accident, but she is all right

At a little before four o'clock this afternoon while I was trying to type this report, my son Roberto called me over the walkie-talkie just after pulling into Straydog in his truck saying to hurry out to our parking area, that Lacie had just been in a bad car accident, rolling her car over several times up the road less than a mile from Straydog as she was coming over the big hill. When I got out to the truck, Lacie was standing with Roberto holding her head with a bloody sweater and bleeding all over from cuts and bruises, but she could talk okay and said she was all right other than having a terrific headache. Lacie's puppy, Bruno, had been in the car with Lacie at the time of the accident, so I took the dog from her, and we called 911 for an ambulance. Bill came to Roberto's truck also, and while we were waiting for the ambulance, Lacie told us what had happened. She said that a big dog belonging to one of our neighbors had run right in front of her car as she was coming over the top of the hill going about 45 mph, and that the second she saw the dog right square in front of her, she swerved hard to avoid hitting the dog, fortunately missed it, but lost control of the car, which rolled over several times before finally coming to a stop upside down on the other bank of the ditch. Lacie managed to crawl out of the car window with her puppy still on a leash, and she and the dog began walking down the road toward Straydog with blood all over Lacie. A man and woman coming along the road in a pickup truck, picked up Lacie and brought her the rest of the way to Straydog, and as they were turning into the Straydog driveway, Roberto was also just arriving in his truck, and that's when he called me over the walkie-talkie.
After waiting for the ambulance for what seemed like an eternity, we finally gave up on that, and we told Roberto to take Lacie to the hospital emergency room in Athens, about 17 miles away, and we called off the ambulance. It was after nine o'clock that evening before they released Lacie from the hospital saying she was okay, but would be very sore tomorrow.
Definitely Lacie has Somebody up There looking out for her, because the car was totally smashed, and it's hard to believe she is still alive. Her surviving this accident was a real miracle.
The ironic part of all this is that a person working in dog rescue almost loses her life to avoid accidentally killing a dog who shouldn't be running loose. There are no leash laws out in the rural areas, and most of our neighbors' dogs roam free, are not spayed or neutered and can and often do cause real problems for everyone.
Other than the above Tuesday was a good day
It was very sunny and warm. Very busy day as every day, with no emergency vet visits, thank goodness, but there were several already scheduled vet visits.
Cici goes to the clinic for her Cushing's test
After Cici's cyst removal last week we had to postpone her Cushing's Disease blood test, which we did. Today the doctor would check Cici's incision, which looks good. Cici had been wearing an E-collar until yesterday. She was not liking it at all, so we finally removed it. We kept a close eye on Cici, and she didn't mess with her leg, and the doctor said her leg looks good. After the leg check they were ready to start the series of Cushing's Disease blood tests to see where we are, and if we should adjust her dosage of Lysodren pills. I had to leave Cici at the clinic since these tests take all day long to get the several readings that the doctor needs.
