Another good day at Straydog
The day has been really good with no vet visits or emergencies of any kind. Jeff and I got started with our normal morning feeding at five o'clock and at seven o'clock Wayne, Rhonda and a new trainee named Marilyn arrived, and they got started helping with our regular duties of the day.
First day on the job for a new trainee
We have a new trainee today, a very nice woman named Marilyn. She is doing very well as she begins to learn our routine, but this kind of work takes some time to get used to with all of the walking and having to be on your feet all day, and Marilyn said this was bothering her feet. All of the doggies liked Marilyn as they always enjoy seeing a new face. Marilyn had a really good time playing with Trixie, who she said had snarled at her yesterday during the interview with Bill, but I assured her that Trixie is like that with everyone new but that once you go into her kennel with her, Trixie will lick you to death. Marilyn also really likes Josie, our beautiful Pit Bull, who Marilyn was a little afraid of at first because of the bad reputation Pits have. Marilyn soon found out that Josie is the one of the sweetest big babies in the world.
Marilyn helped me out on walks and Jeff, Rhonda and Wayne did all the kennel work.

Spring cleaning continues
As soon as the kennel work was done, Jeff and Wayne gave Wolfie and Reba a bath and moved them to Nikki and Rex's kennel (which had already been sprayed for flees), and then Jeff sprayed Wolfie and Reba's kennel, and they should be able to go back as soon as their kennel dries.

We have the "spring cleaning" completed in almost one whole section of kennels (Central Section). We've removed all the winter hay, given bathes to the dogs and sprayed the kennels for fleas and ticks.
Purtis and Little Big Boy meet Peppy in the parks
I had Big Boy and Purtis in the park for their caregiving time and I wanted to see if maybe Peppy would get along with them so they could maybe have a little girl friend when they go to the park, but Peppy growled as if saying don't hurt me and we will be okay, and the hair on her back stood up like hers always does until she gets used to being around new acquaintances. I think they might be okay together, so tomorrow I think I will take Peppy and Missy to visit Purtis and Big Boy to let them get to know each other a little better.
