Tina reports ...        Edited and posted by Bill

Thunderstorm hits Straydog about 5:30 a.m.

The day started off in a rush to feed all of the doggies before it began raining.  As soon as Jeff and I got done feeding it started raining. There had already been lightning and thunder, so we did have fourteen dogs who did not eat, but we went back later on and set their bowls down again after the lightning and thunder stopped, and they all ate.

We did get behind some on walks since it is not safe to be out in the lightning. We had to wait to walk the hospital until around 7:30 a.m., so Rhonda helped George to finish the hospital walks, and then she began her outside walks. We did get caught up by the end of the day and all of the doggies got walked to the park.

John caregives while Tina, Jeff and Michael work on de-fleaing more dogs and their kennels

John was here today to caregive all of the doggies, so Jeff, Michael and I began cleaning the kennels and doing build up since the rain washed a lot of the sandy dirt away. As soon as we got done with our kennel work, Jeff and Michael started taking off the front boards and cleaning the hay out of the dog houses. I had talked to Juana earlier and asked her if I could give a Capstar pill to Oscar, DeeDee, Annie, Ranger, Shep and Beauty to get rid of all the fleas. The Capstar begins to work in thirty minutes and will kill all of the fleas at one time and will work for twenty four hours. After their pill, I would put the dogs into a kennel that had already been sprayed. Juana said that would be good, so while Jeff and Michael removed front boards, I gave the six doggies their pill and then put the dog houses back into the shelters that had already been sprayed with poison. As soon as their kennels dry out, which will probably be tomorrow, we will spray them with poison and let them dry and move all of the six doggies back to their kennels. As soon I got done moving these guys, I got the lawn mower since the grass had dried a lot. I mowed the grass behind Tipper's kennel as it was almost up to our knees when we walked through that area. It looks really nice back there now.

We got a lot of work done today, and it is looking really great around here.
