Juana reports ...      Edited and posted by Bill

A very good day here at Straydog, and once again we got a lot done today. A very nice day, not too hot, kind of cloudy, and it look like it was going to rain, but it never did. The wind was supposed to be blowing 35 miles per hour but that didn't happen either.

Today's vet visits

   Travis and Patsy

This morning I had already scheduled some vet appointments to take four of our dogs in to visit Dr. Terry. Travis went in to get his forth demodectic mange dip, and Patsy went in to get her third demodectic mange dip. Travis and Patsy are sure getting big. They both weigh over 40 lbs now, and they are still acting like little babies. They hate going to the vet, and they get car sick very bad during the short ride to the clinic, poor babies.

Juana walks Travis to the van to go on his vet visit.

   Sydney

I also took Sydney in today because she has been taking Prednisone for her Irritable Bowel Disease, and she's been doing well, as far as we can tell, except for her skin, which still looks bad some places. She is still missing hair on her belly, but we haven't seen any bloody diarrhea or vomiting since the doctors put her on these steroids pills. Dr. Terry keeps reducing the dosage of this medication. We used to give her 20 mg a day, and for a while now Sydney has been taking only 10 mg of Pred, only with her p.m. meal, and she seems to be doing well.

Today we took her in to get an update on her blood work to get an indication of how her liver and kidneys are doing. Sydney was a very good girl. She sat for us, and was feeling confident and just showing off her pretty self. Dr. Terry and the vet tech checked her all over and saw how bad her skin condition was. After looking at the normal blood work results, Dr. Terry prescribed an even lesser dosage (5 mg) of Prednisone, once a day. The doctor also gave me a new bag of cookie treats that we will give Sydney in order for her to be eating only her strict food diet. We will follow what the doctor says and see how she does.

Pretty Sydney, at the vet clinic.

Dr. Terry listens to Sydney's heart.
