Dogs do fine during the rain storms

     Today was a good day, even though we did get some thunderstorms with heavy rain during the day. All of our dogs did well. Our big Oso-dog is the main whiner and fusser here during storms, but he has been staying inside our hospital trailer (Hospital I), so he did fine during the rains today.

It's been 11 weeks since Nikki's TPLO surgery

     It has been 11 weeks today since Nikki had her TPLO knee surgery. I called our vet clinic to see if I could bring Nikki in this morning to get new x-rays done, and get them e-mailed to Dr. McDonald. It seems like Nikki's knee surgery has gone well but we'll need to hear what our surgeon, Dr. McDonald, at DVSC in Mesquite, says. From what we can tell, Nikki seems so much better. There is no limping and she isn't taking any pain medicine at all. She only gets her joint care pills and supplements.

Nikki is very nervous, but she's a good girl at the clinic

     Nikki was very, very nervous, but she behaved very well as always at the clinic. All the vet techs wanted to say hi to her and give her some treats, but Nikki just wouldn't take them. When the vet tech took Nikki to get her x-rays, again because of how nervous she was, she had a big potty accident on the x-ray table, bless her heart. I helped them clean it up and held her for a while. After they took the x-rays, we had to give her a little bath in order to clean Nikki better, poor girl.

     Dr. Terry and Dr. Morton looked over her x-rays and said that everything, as far as they could tell, looked very good, but they would e-mail the x-rays to Dr. McDonald and see what he tells us. They said to continue having Nikki on restrained exercise for now, until we hear from Dr. McDonald.
