Tuffy gets updated heartworm test and vaccines
I also took Tuffy to see Dr. Terry today to get his vaccines updated and to get an updated heartworm blood test. Tuffy has been attending a lot of Adoption Days lately, and sometimes he gets a lot of attention. We'll have all the updated files to take along to Adoption Day now in case he meets his forever family. Tuffy is the sweetest dog ever with people. Maybe he hasn't been adopted yet because some people are afraid of Pit Bulls (though some folks think Tuffy's part Dalmatian). We've had many other breeds of dogs who have been with us too for a long time, so I guess it's that the timing hasn't been right for Sweet Tuffy to find his adoptive family yet. Tuffy used to kennel with Destiny before she was adopted but at feeding time Tuffy had begun to get aggressive. So, Tuffy would probably be best in a home without other dogs. Tuffy likes Adoption Day. He's fine with a lot of other big dogs there at Petsmart and really loves people, so we're hoping he'll find himself a home family soon.
Tuffy's heartworm test was negative, just as we were expecting. The doctor said we could change his heartworm prevention to Sentinel if we wanted to. We have been giving Tuffy Heartguard every month as his preventive ever since he was treated for heartworm disease in the Spring of 2006 by Dr. Reeves in Tyler.
