Trying to get an appointment at the DVSC for poor Sandy-man

I spent quite a bit of time yesterday in between my "day-off chores" and then again this morning trying to get an appointment as soon as possible to take our Sandy-man to the DVSC as Dr. Morton had suggested we do do. Sandy is still the same. He can't move his back legs. He is still eating, and we continually offer him some water because he can't reach his water bowl. Sandy is taking extra pain medicine. We're pretty sure that he can't feel anything from his hips down but Dr. Morton said that Sandy is still he is in pain at the point where nerves are pinched. I just can't stand seeing how uncomfortable Sandy looks and how desperate he seems to be, not being able to move. Finally after several phone calls, the vet tech at the Mesquite office of the DVSC called us back, saying that Dr. McDonald can't do this type of surgery in the Mesquite clinic because they don't have the right equipment. She told me to call the Dallas DVSC on Trinity Mills Road, and to take Sandy in right away. "It sounds like you need to take him as soon as possible," the vet tech/receptionist said. We really wanted to take our Sandy-man to see Dr. McDonald, but he didn't have an appointment open until next Tuesday, which was way too long to wait. So I called the DVSC in Dallas and, after they asked a lot of questions, they said to bring him right in, and they would treat him as an emergency.

We take Sandy to the DVSC in Dallas; a malignant tumor has invaded Sandy's spine the Dr. said and there is nothing we can do to help him get better

I talked to Bill, who was trying to get caught up on our daily reports, but once again he didn't have time for that. We needed to take Sandy in now. I asked Jeff and David to come and help us with Sandy.

Jeff carefully carries Sandy out of Hospital I.

David and Jeff lay Sandy on a cot and carry him to the van.

Sandy and Jeff wait for the others to take the crates out of the van.

David sits with Sandy until Juana takes over.

Juana and Sandy are in the back of the van as Bill drives down the Straydog driveway.
(Bill stops the van to turn around and take this picture.)
