Melinda, Bonnie and Blake go for vaccinations

These growing puppies were scheduled for their 2nd puppy vaccinations today, and we were at the clinic by 9:30. The puppies were very good (like all puppies are) and before leaving the vet clinic to come back to the shelter again, I asked the doctor if I could see the three newest arrivals, whom we rescued almost a week ago.

Three new starving pups, Gidget, Bridget and Lilly, are not starving anymore

A brief history of these pups: These three pups were abandoned by their owner a month ago. The owner just up and moved away leaving the three five-month-old puppies behind to fend for themselves. A whole month went by before the landlord of the property discovered the pups, who by then were practically starved to death and were covered from nose to the tip of their tails with sarcoptic and demodectic mange. The neighbor came to ask our help, and we rescued the pups and took them to our vet clinic right away. All three pups have been at the clinic all week recovering and being treated for mange. Click here for the full story in the Friday, December 27, 2002 rescue of these three pups.

Today Puppies Gidget, Bridget and Lilly came cautiously up to the gate of their kennel when I went to see them, and even tho they still have very little fur on their thin bodies, they looked much better to me, just as they did a few days ago when I visited them. They are still very thin, but their tummies have the "full tummy" budge now. It will still take a little more time for them to fill out because of how emaciated they were when we rescued them, but they will get better.

Their kennel is all ready for them here at Straydog, and I will bring them home tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to this so we can give these three precious pups all the loving and care they've missed for so long.
