Puppy Chubs is much better and so is Molly!
What a relief to wake up to see that little Blind Puppy Chubs is much, much better! His appetite is back, and the diarrhea has stopped. His sister, Cassie, is fine too. Tomorrow the puppies will be five weeks old. They've begun to play more, and it's adorable to see them tussle around together. (Photos coming.)
Chubs is a brave little puppy. Having no sight doesn't phase this pup at all. Chubs and his sister, Cassie, reside in the big kennel in our kitchen/living room (previously Snow's kennel), which is "homemade" created for easy access for us big people. It's constructed of chain link fence that's six feet high, and it's 3' wide and 6' long. (Photo of the kennel to come.)
Chubs and Cassie like to "investigate" the big kitchen
Whenever I open their big kennel door to change the puppy papers, both pups come "running" up to me (even little Chubs finds his way to me with no problem now), and after a bit of petting they manage to scooch around my feet and head out the open door of their kennel to do some puppy investigating of the kitchen.
Chubs doesn't even hesitate. Out he goes right along side his sister. He trots around on the kitchen floor until he bumps into something, then moves back and continues trotting around. Nothing bothers this little pup. (Photos to come.)
I visited Molly today
After doing the shopping for the dogs I went to visit Molly at the vet clinic, where she's been recovering from the surgery done on her leg day before yesterday. Yesterday when I went to see her, she looked as if she felt terrible, and I'm sure she did, and the doctor had an E-collar on her to keep her from messing with the stitches along the inside of her thigh, which collar she didn't like at all. She was really sad and unhappy and feeling bad during that visit, and before leaving yesterday I told Molly I'd be back today.
So this morning I packed up the kind of dog food Molly is used to so the vet techs would have it to feed Molly during her stay, so she wouldn't get an upset stomach from a change of food. And I took along some of her favorite dog treats and went to visit her again.
Molly looks and feels so much better!!
What a HUGE RELIEF to see the change in Molly today. She looks so much better, and I could tell she felt much better too! Her big brown eyes are all sparkley again, and she wagged her fluffy white tail happily the minute she saw me coming toward her kennel. She looked like our regular happy Molly again, which was wonderful to see. The vet tech had washed her leg, which gets pretty messed up from the discharge from the drain tube, and this made Molly look much better too.
No More E-Collar
The doctor had removed the E-Collar from Molly, and put on a "home made" no-bite collar. He was completely out of the commercial no-bite collars, so he constructed one himself just for Molly (How about this for a mighty wonderful doctor?), and he admitted that it is much softer and more comfortable than the regular ones. This is another reason she was so happy, I'm sure.
I stayed with Molly for nearly half an hour. She loved the doggie treats and all the special attention and she was happy! Tomorrow I will go see her again.
