Davey is doing better, and Big Boy's test came out okay!

This is sure good news for both of these big fellows. As you know from yesterday's entry, we had Davey and Big Boy spend the night at our vet clinic so Big Boy would be there first thing for his early morning blood test, and Davey needed to be there while Guy and Randy did some kennel rearranging so that Davey could be moved from Helen's kennel to a bigger kennel. The doctor called me this morning, just before I left for town to do the dog shopping and said that Big Boy's blood test shows that everything is in a normal range. This is great.

Big Boy and Davey return to the shelter

Since we had Davey's bigger kennel just about ready for him and Big Boy was ready to come home, after the shopping trip I went to get the fellows from the clinic. They liked their stay there, the vet techs said, and they were glad to be back at their "home" when we arrived here at Straydog.

More good news about Davey

This evening when Guy checked on Davey, his stools were perfect! This is the first time he's had a good bowel movement since the day he arrived at our vet clinic, so this is wonderful. Davey acts as if he is feeling fine, and he likes his new kennel.

Maybe we can introduce new arrival Heather to Davey when we bring new Heather home from the clinic where she will be staying, with E-Collar on, until the stitches from her spay surgery can be removed. (Heather is being boarded at the clinic because she chewed the stitches out this past Sunday, several days after surgery, and the doctor had to "restitch" her). We may have to wait tho, until Davey's problem in his back/rump area is cured because his back half and rump are so sensitive that if Heather were to bump Davey there, he might react unfavorably (to put it mildly).

It's going to be very, very cold tonight

Our local weather radio forecasts temperatures dipping into the teens, so we stuffed the dog houses full of extra hay. They'll be okay. A few years ago we went thru a period of several days when the temperature never got out of the 20s, and they all survived. As our vets have told us over the years, dogs are built to handle this kind of weather--and worse. It's got to be uncomfortable for them, tho.
