All dogs checked out okay at the vets
When we arrived at the clinic with all the dogs, we took Chubs and Cassie in to see the doctor first. Dr. Morton couldn't believe how much these seven-week-old puppies had grown! And, of course, as always, he remarked that they were the prettiest little puppies he has ever seen (which is what he says about every dog and pup we take to him--and which, of course, is true).
Chubs' diarrhea problem had completely cleared up this morning, and the little fellow seemed just fine today, and after examining Chubs, Dr. Morton agreed. The doctor gave both pups a mini checkup and vaccinations and even a little toenail trim. Chubs weighed 12.7 pounds and Cassie weighs 11.7 pounds. They are really growing fast.
Then the pups were returned to their traveling crate in the van, and Molly was next to see the doctor. Molly had her stitches removed. Then Misty had her allergy injection. Frosty Husky had her ears checked, and she put up a terrible fuss! She has an ear infection and was given medication for this, and and she was sure glad to go back outside to her traveling crate in the van.
Adorable puppy Pepsi was scheduled for neuter surgery this afternoon, so we left him at the clinic and brought home Heather, whose incision was now completely healed from her spay surgery.
A busy morning.
Evening update: There's a whole lotta howling going on
7:00 p.m. - This evening we are finding out that new arrival Shepherd Heather is not very happy in her kennel, which is at the western end of the kennels and furthest away from our house. We could hear a steady howl from one of the dogs, which was unusual, so naturally I went to check on Heather, and she is the howler. I went in to her kennel to talk to her for a little while to try and calm her down, but by the time I got back to the house, the howling started up again.
Tomorrow we'll have to do some more rearranging and move Heather to one of the kennels near the house. I think she'll feel more comfortable "up front" -- if we can wait until tomorrow! [LATER: Heather was quiet for the rest of the night, so it looks like she's going to be okay in her current kennel.]
