Linda's Friday report from The Dallas RV and Camper Show ...
When we arrived at Dallas Market Hall, the temperature was 36 degrees, and we weren't very excited about being located outside. When I went inside to check in, the events coordinator said they were not going to let us be out there in the cold, and they found us a place inside. After some adjustments, we settled into a great indoor booth. We saw two of our regular contributors today, and a nearby vendor was very interested in Big Foot. All three of our attending dogs (Heidi, Lee and Big Foot) attracted a lot of visitors as we had the three dogs right in front of our booth area. Volunteer David Bonski arrived at our booth about mid day, and he helped us a lot with the dogs and visitors. We had a fun day meeting new people, and we're expecting to be extremely busy Saturday. Let's keep our paws crossed! We will once again be located indoors in the Explorer USA area, which is about 25% of the show.
Linda's Saturday report from The Dallas RV and Camper Show ...
The RV and Camper Show continues to prove that there are many nice people in this world, and we should always remember that. Saturday provided an ongoing steady flow of visitors, and we had the wonderful opportunity to meet some of our current supporters and to make many new friends. Our rescue, Terry, was a show stopper and received a lot of attention a lot of our visitors shared stories of their labs. Tuffy with his unique markings and his hound-sounding bark brought a lot of curious visitors to check out what we were all about. A visitor nick named his curious breed, pit and Dalmatian, as Pitmation, which will stick. Jeff Hartman, a supportive volunteer, and foster parent to Oscar, spent the day helping us and hopefully to find a forever home for his black lab mix Oscar, who is a wonderful year-and-half-old pup. We will be at the show from 11 am Sunday morning until 6 pm Sunday evening. If the camping and RV show are in your plans, please stop by our booth as we are inside sharing space with the very special people from Explorer USA group.
Linda's Sunday report from The Dallas RV and Camper Show ...
Sunday at the RV and Camping Show! We were
able to sleep in a little Sunday morning as the show did not open
doors until 11 AM. Maria, our 3-year-old Black Lab mix, and Tabitha,
a Beagle mix, behaved beautifully during the last day of the show.
Volunteer Jeff Hartman was also present with his Black Lab Oscar,
who is such an adorable pup. For some reason, maybe because Saturday
was so busy, I did not think Sunday would have as much traffic.
Well prove me wrong! We arrived to refresh our booth at 10:30
and have some more coffee before the day officially began. At
11 AM the doors opened and the crowds flowed in. It was another
wonderful day, and we were able to talk and visit with so many
nice people. A longtime supporter of Straydog, Lana Isom, assisted
us during the day. Lana was terrific at sharing the story and
bagging dog treats. As most of you know Breeder's Choice Dog Food
Company has provided us with dog treats that are of excellent
quality and made from all natural products. We re-bag the treats
into smaller gift bags and hand then out at these special events
we're attending. During the RV and Camping Show we gave out over
1000 bags of treats. These gift bags certainly attract the attention
of those touring the show, and that provides us the opportunity
to share the amazing story of Straydog. We had several adoption
interest inquiries on the dogs who attended this event over the
weekend, and we advised them of the Straydog adoption protocol.
To best serve our mission we must ensure that every dog who is
placed in an adoptive home be the best match for that family.
Once we are able to place a dog with a loving family, we want
the adoption to be a success so that we open a spot on our "lifeboat"
for another rescue in need. Yes, the RV and Camper Show was a
great success for Straydog, and we hope to see many of these visitors
become a part of our support group over time. Again, a special
thank you for providing complimentary space for Straydog to Explorer
USA and to Mary Campos and the entire staff of the RV and Camper
Show event.
Also please join us next Saturday and Sunday at the North Texas
Irish Festival. We will post our booth location as the time gets
nearer!

Linda's Friday report from
The Dallas Winter Boat Show ...
Tom and I arrived at Dallas Market Center right at 1 pm, and David
had the guest stars, Big Foot, Heidi and Lee, already in our booth,
which is not located in the major traffic flow, but our neighboring
booths have informed us that Saturday and Sunday it will be busy.
Even though it was Friday night and with a kind of remote location,
we still saw a fair amount of traffic, gaining 24 names for the
Straydog mail list, and two people who are already Straydog contributors
stopped by. We had interest in our two little Dachshunds, Heidi
and Lee, and David and Matt walked Big Foot around our immediate
area, pulling in a lot of attention that way. ... More to come
as the show goes on ...
Linda's Saturday report from The Dallas Winter Boat Show ...
Saturday was quite a busy day with visitors walking through in groups. We had a lot of fun visiting with people. Barbara Sucher and Joanne Pollard were scheduled to assist, and they both showed up along with Todd Carr. Todd spent much of the day walking through the show floor with one or the other of the dogs. Terry was quite an attention getter, and one lady is extremely interested in possibly adopting Terry-dog. We were fortunate in adding 89 more names to the Straydog mail list, bringing the total to 113 new names so far. Hopefully Sunday will be as good or better!
Linda's Sunday report from The Dallas Winter Boat Show ...
WOW! Today turned out to be a great visitor
day, complementing the beautiful weather. Volunteer Deb Hartman
arrived at 10:00 and stayed all day with us. Deb was terrific
in showing off the dogs and talking with our visitors as all of
our gracious volunteers were.
Maria and Tabitha were great show stoppers, and Ms. Maria would
sit up so nice and pretty. She was unbelievably well behaved.
