Lacie reports ...        Edited and posted by Bill

The rain cools everything off and is such a relief

Today was a pretty mellow day since it was cloudy and it rained off and on all day. It was already raining, thundering and lightning this morning at 6:00 when the crew got here, and it was still doing the same thing, when the crew left at 3:00 this afternoon. It slowed down and even stopped for two or three hours. Then it started back up, very hard. The best thing about all of this rain is it FELT SO GOOD outside. It wasn't HOT at ALL!

Storm clouds over Straydog.

Duncan is still not well and must see the vet

We took Duncan to the vet this morning to try to find out what's wrong with him. He still hasn't eaten since Saturday morning. That means that he has missed four meals, which is not like Duncan at all. He normally eats his two cups of food and then he tries to eat his bowl for dessert. Duncan also threw up again last night, and he still hasn't had a bowel movement, which is not good. Juana told Rhonda, the overnight person, to give Duncan a Carafate and 500 mg of Metronidazole at 9:00 last night and do it again at 1:00 this morning. Neither of the medications helped, so we had to take Duncan to the vet this morning, to see what was going on with the big guy.

David left with Duncan heading for Morton Clinic at around 8:20 this morning. When Duncan and David arrived at the clinic, Dr. Terry wanted to take some x-rays because Juana had already called and told her what was going on. The doctor took x-rays and an obstruction showed up in his stomach on the x-ray. Dr. Terry was going to keep Duncan for the night because she was going to do another x-ray later on today. She wanted to see if it was really something that he ate that was clogging up his stomach, or if it was the Carafate that was making everything in his stomach move around. That's what this medicine does. Dr. Terry is supposed to be calling us back after she takes more x-rays and knows whether or not she will be operating on Duncan, poor big guy!

Duncan gets his temperature taken as the doctor tries to find out why the big fella hasn't eaten since Saturday morning.

Duncan gets x-rayed.
