A taste of Spring

It's Sunday once again here at Straydog, and just like last Sunday the weather was great! It started off a bit cool, somewhere in the low 40's, but the temperature climbed quickly and it actually made it up to 67 degrees by mid afternoon. What a way to end February--with a taste of spring.

Our projects for our dogs require financial resources, and we thank our contributors again

With the return of Decker yesterday James is building another kennel over on the other side of Rex and Nikki's kennel using leftover fence panels that were stacked by the barn. He is also going to build another Kennel, right behind Krissy and Little Boomer. But we need to get additional fence panels to complete that part, which we won't be able to do until we pay a substantial amount on our $11,000+ vet bill at Morton Small Animal Clinic in Athens, Texas. It seems like everywhere we turn, we need funding to accomplish something. I know money is tight all over, and I want to thank our contributors so much for making it possible for us to care for all of the dogs here. Without you, I don't know what would happen.

James works on getting another kennel set up for newly returned Decker.

Decker is a very sweet dog

Decker, who was returned to Straydog yesterday after more than two years, is so sweet. He loves to play with toys. David Ford was caregiving in Decker's kennel today, and I watched them have fun together, playing with and tugging on a rope. Decker has to stay in the quarantine kennel by himself for now until we can get him to the clinic to have him checked over completely. We have to make sure that he doesn't have anything wrong with him--especially anything contagious. I have a feeling that he is really going to like the park when he's finally permitted to visit.

Decker and Caregiver David Ford play with a rope toy.

Decker likes his rope toy.
