Bill Arnold reports
...
The golf tournament went
really well, and we raised enough funding to cover expenses for
a few weeks at Straydog!
Our Straydog Golf Tournament
event, organized by Linda Arnold (my sister-in-law) along with
a lot of help from my brother, Tom Arnold, both of whom have been
volunteering here at Straydog for the past two and a half years,
was a success in our fundraising efforts, and we're hoping to
find more ways to raise more funds in order to supplement the
generous contributions you, our longtime, loyal, regular supporters,
continue to send us so that we can make ends meet.
Many thanks to Twin Lakes
Golf Course and everyone else who participated in making our golf
tournament a success!
Juana and Bill greet golfers as
they pass by the Straydog booth on there way inside the
clubhouse to register for the tournament. Penny-dog is in a crate
on the left, and Tuffy-boy's in the crate
on the right. ExploreUSA RV Supercenter is our Premier Sponsor
at the tournament, and we thank them
very much for their support and participation in the First
Annual Straydog Golf Tournament.
At the aquatic driving range just
off the back terrace of the clubhouse, a golfer (and Straydog
supporter and enthusiast,
Jim Mann) tries to hit a ball into a square out in the lake. And
he does after a few tries, adding some donations to Straydog.
The numbered raffle golf balls are
dropped out of a helicopter over the putting green.
The closest ball to the hole wins $1,000 and the farthest wins
$250.
Tuffy (with Bill) and Penny (with David Rentz) watch the ball-drop.
Click here for the YouTube video of
the helicopter ball-drop.
Randy Wade, Twin Lakes' pro and
tournament man, holds up the ball that landed closest -to-the
hole,
the winning ball, number 918. Linda Arnold poses with Randy who
just determined which was the closest ball to the hole.
One of the players in the tournament, Patrick Gent, had number
918 and won the $1,000!
Penny knows that's not the farthest
ball from the hole.
Linda talks with Patrick Gent, winner
of the ball drop raffle, while Randy announces Mr. Gent as the
winner.
David holds up the ball determined
to be the farthest from the hole, Number 1720,
which was purchased by a Tyler school teacher,
The players play golf for the next
four hours.
