A sunny, warm winter day at Straydog
Today was a warm enough
day, sunny with a high of 64 degrees by late afternoon. The morning
was chilly with last night's low getting down in the low 40s,
but as the day went on, the sun really got warm and pretty, almost
no wind.
The ringworm sores on Travis have cleared up, and he and his kennel mate, Maria, can once again go to the park
It was been months since our poor fella Travis has been in quarantine due to ringworm fungus, but today has been a very happy day for both Travis and Maria. They are out of quarantine! Yes, they got to go to the park, and they were both so happy that they pulled Sherri as fast as they could with her holding back on the leashes all the way to the park. After they got through the big park gate, they wouldn't even stop for Sherry to take their leashes off till they were in the middle of the park. It was funny and wonderful to watch them play and run, exploring all over the park again.

Travis has a swollen paw again, but isn't limping this time
We've been concerned for a while now about Travis' swollen front paw. We had thought he was getting better after Dr. Foster had said it was a swollen joint and she had prescribed him antibiotics. It was looking better for a while, but now it seems like it is swollen again. Travis doesn't seem to be limping now as he had before Dr. Foster saw him. Now it is only the swollen paw. We would like to take him sometime to see the doctors at Morton Clinic and see what they think. It's not urgent, but we will be keeping a close eye on him.

Pokey and Goldie's new doggie-door ramp looks just wonderful
The landing and ramp that James build for Pokie and Goldie looks just wonderful. Now James is building a little roof top for this little porch landing just outside the door with their doggie door. The reason for this little roof is that every time it rains, the water just drips onto and into the door and makes the door go rotten. Pokie and Goldie really love their new ramp with landings at the top and in the middle.

Tucker and Pup Marie continue to get along well
One of our newest rescue dogs, sweet Tucker-boy, is doing so much better, and he is so gentle. He is getting along very well with bossy Pup Marie. They are both doing very well together. Marie does respect some things that Tucker says, but most of it goes Marie's way.

Mario wants all the attention at caregiving rounds
Mario and Judy are best buddies, but when it comes to caregiving time, Mario wants all the attention. Since I was taking the photos, Judy kept jumping on the fence wanting for me to pet her and she wouldn't go to see Lacie and Mario so I could get a good photo of both dogs. I did get several good ones of Mario and Lacie. He is a good boy who loves his treats and time with a caregiver.

We call Big Pup Jorge "Trouble Boy"
We call Big Pup Jorge "Trouble
Boy" because he has been very bad lately. The last time he
was with his sister, Marie (who's now with Tucker), they started
to get into it so bad that we just had to separate them for good.
It is a shame that we have such a bossy little man in this Jorge
fellow. We just can't accept that we can't find a good playmate
for him so that he doesn't have to stay all by himself. After
talking and thinking how good Tucker is and also how gentle and
big he is, we thought maybe Pup Jorge would be a little intimidated
by Tucker as he is so big but we know Tucker is not aggressive
at all, so maybe this would work. It could be the last chance
for Pup Jorge to find a good playmate.
We introduce Tucker and Pup Jorge, and it doesn't work out
We brought Tucker to the big park from his kennel near Park Two, and we got Pup Jorge from his temporary kennel by the big park. Pup Jorge's hair stood up, but Tucker was just wagging his tail. We brought them close to each other, and Pup Jorge growled. But that doesn't necessarily mean it over.

Now we had to walk them them around the park together, because Tucker wasn't showing any aggression, and we thought that this still could go well, just give it time. We walked both next to each other. At first it seemed okay. It looked like Jorge was ready to give up and accept a friend, but as soon as Tucker made a move toward Jorge trying to play, Jorge jumped on him, and Tucker didn't accept this, not that he did much but he reacted enough, and Pup Jorge didn't back down at all, I mean not at all, so this was the end of this. We pulled their leashes in opposite directions, and Tucker went back to Marie and poor grouchy Pup Jorge went back to his temp kennel to reside alone. What else are we going to do with his boy? He's going to be a lonely dog, just like other singles that we have here, poor things.
