Lacie reports ...        Edited and posted by Bill

A nice day, with a high of 70 degrees!

Today was a great day here at Straydog and the weather was great! It was sunny, and there was a high of 70 degrees. It was just so nice outside all day long, and it felt like spring. Even though it was a good day, it was a busy day for everyone at Straydog. There were lots of things going on, in addition to our normal daily routine. At least there weren't any emergencies today, and we had a full crew.

David gets our dogs ready to go to Adoption Day, and makes the drive to Petsmart Plano East

It was around 8:30 a.m. when David Rentz came over and started getting the van ready for Adoption Day. David made sure that he had enough crates, and he got some extra towels and all of the paperwork for the doggies. He then got some collars and leashes and started getting the attending dogs into their crates in the back of the van. David took Martha, Marie and the three little puppies, whose names are Lucas, Luz and Natasha. All of these dogs are great dogs. They are all very sweet, loving and playful. I hope that you got to stop by the Petsmart in Plano to see them. They were there from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. I know our doggies are always so happy to see visitors and give them some kisses.

David Rentz walks Martha to the van.

Sherri carries Puppy Natasha to the Adoption Day van.

Lacie carries Luz and Lucas (later renamed Cooper) to the van.

Marie is in the crate on the left and the three pups are in the crate on the right.

Tucker has a home visit and all goes well! Congratulations Tucker!

It was also around 8:30 a.m. when Juana and Bill got here so they could pick up Tucker for the trip to Houston. Our Tucker-boy was going on a home visit today. Tucker's new family lives in Houston, Texas. Juana and Bill planned to leave early this morning, as it is a four-hour drive. Juana texted the crew a little after 3:00 this afternoon to let us know that Tucker's home visit was great and that he had been officially adopted. I talked to Juana this afternoon and she said everything was great. Tucker was happy, his new parents were happy, and his new doggie friend was also very happy! We were all so happy and excited for Tucker and his new family. Thank you so much for adopting our boy and giving him a wonderful forever home. Best of luck to y'all!

Teresa

Teresa is doing very well here at our shelter. She is a very energetic girl who loves to play and run. The only problem is that she seems very bored. Teresa hasn't been cleared of hookworms yet, and we hope that she will be cleared this week so we'll be able to find a companion for her. Teresa is such a sweetie, and I don't think we will have any problems finding her a kennel mate. After Teresa is free of hookworms, she will also be available for adoption. She would love to have a forever home and a loving family of her own!

Teresa jumps as high as she can to see over her fence.

While Martha is a Petsmart, Darling is sad

Darling was not a very happy girl today. She was very sad all day long because her friend Martha was away at Adoption Day. She is such a sweet and cute little dog. All this girl wants is to be loved and petted. She would really be a great addition to just about any family. This sweet, loving little girl is just waiting for her forever home.

Darling stands up asking where her pal Martha is.

Lilly and Daisy are making progress

Lilly and Daisy, two of our newest rescues, are coming out of their shells more and more each day. When we got Lilly and Daisy, two weeks ago, they were very shy and skittish. Everyone here at the shelter has been giving these girls all of the extra love and attention that we can and, sure enough, it's working. These girls are really coming around. They will come to us now. They run around and play with each other and bark at the other dogs. These two girls still need some work, but we are just so happy that they are making progress.

Daisy and Lilly say hi.

referred to Lilly as Pudge in this photo)

Big Pup James digs holes twice his size!

Big pup James is now a digger, and he doesn't just dig any type of hole. He likes to dig really big holes--holes that are twice his size. James started digging these gigantic holes all of a sudden and we don't know why. James enjoys digging these huge holes, but the crew doesn't enjoy them as much, because they are the ones who have to fill in the huge holes a few times a day. James is such a cutie, but boy he's high maintenance!

Puppy James looks respectfully at Polly.

Puppy James is the most beautiful dog, but he loves to dig gigantic holes.

Thank you, crew!

I want to thank Sherri, Wayne and Coby, who worked very hard today and got everything done. They also made sure that all of our doggies got all of the love, care and attention that they needed. Thank y'all so much!
