Caregiver Sherri brushes 6-year-old Wolfie, who we will find out on the 10th needs braces for his
ankles (or hocks). Both hocks have torn Achilles tendons. Surgery doesn't hold up well on
Achilles tendons, but these braces should help support Wolfie so we can walk and play and not
hurt so much! The cost is $700 per brace because they are custom fitted. Please help us if you can.

We are skipping around again because we feel we have to finish
and post whatever comes along ready to post.

A Note from Bill Arnold - (POSTED EARLY MAY 2011) - As you can see, we are way behind in the posting of our daily updates, which continue to be written every day by Juana, Lacie and others. Daily photos continue to be taken and processed, and initial editing of the dailies is being done each and every day. Final page composition and final editing are what's slowing us down, and we can't seem to find the time to get completely caught up, so we have decided to henceforth post in chronological order so that the continuity of our day-to-day history can be maintained, even if we are running a month or six weeks (or more) behind real time. [January 11, 2012: We are skipping around again because we feel we have to finish and post whatever comes along ready to post, whether it's current news or a month or more old.]

Pat and I were inspired to begin writing this journal covering the day-to-day happenings at Straydog by a 16th Century Spanish author named Bernal Diaz del Castillo, who lived from about 1492 to 1584, and who was the author of a gigantic work entitled The True History of the Conquest of Mexico (in Spanish the title is La verdadera historia de la conquista de Nueva España). (I happened to major in Spanish and then taught the language for many years after graduating from Oberlin College in 1962.) Bernal Diaz del Castillo accompanied Hernan Cortez during all the years that the conquest of Mexico was taking place, and he wrote about everything that happened in his daily journal entries, which later became his grand work, The True History of the Conquest of Mexico. These daily journal entries are to me very interesting to read even 600 years after they were written. Thus I'm thinking our Daily Straydog Updates should also be very interesting (to me and many others) to read six weeks (or longer) after they occur and are written about. ... Seguimos adelante. ... We move ahead.
