Purtis

It's been two weeks since Purtis had ACL surgery on his knee. Luckily, Lacie brought the scissors that she uses at Morton's Clinic with her. She removed little Purtis' stitches and his leg looked very good. It looked like it's healed. We are still walking him on a leash and he's doing very well. We removed the awful E-collar. He really hated that. He is doing so well on that leg. He's eating and walking and doing very well.

Lacie (who's training to be a vet tech at Morton Clinic) removes Purtis's stitches with the special scissors Lacie brought with her from work.

Purtis's repaired ACL tear in his left knee is healing fine. "And now that my stitches are out, " says Purtis, "I don't have to wear that doggone E-collar anymore!" Purtis really hated having to wear. [INSERT PHOTO OF PURTIS WEARING E-COLLAR]

Blind and deaf Colt loves his kennel mates Puppies Miranda and Miss B. Colt plays with them the same as a normal dog would, though the only senses he has are smell and touch. Amazing!

Jessie runs from his kennel to the park, as he has been doing for years. He's always been very afraid to vary from this routine. Though his mother Laura was domesticated, Jessie must have been feral for the early part of his life, and though he's come a long way over the past 10+ years, he will most probably never get over his tremendous fear of everything he's not used to.

LEFT: Sherri plays with Luis in the partially snow-covered park. Sherri, who is really good with dogs, used to work full time here at Straydog but now can only come help us when she has days off from her full time job in a candy factory in Corsicana. We just couldn't afford to keep this wonderful former employee of Straydog.
RIGHT: The ice started melting around 11:00, and by afternoon it had all melted.

Cindy is not doing very well. She has some sort of autoimune disease, and her white blood cells are killing her red blood cells., and she is continuing to stay at Morton Clinic right now. We're going to have to take her to the Dallas Animal Diagnostic Clinic to see Dr. Porterpan. This is going to cost at least $500, but we have to do it. She's not improving.

Betsy saw that the rain water on the ramp was going to give her a little trouble. But she had to go down the ramp, because she had to pee. She went out there, and when she came in, I (Juana) got the best picture of her. She was trying to get down on her bed. It takes her a little while to make herself ready to lie down. She has arthritis (among other leg and hip problems), and she can't ease herself down. She has to flop, which has to hurt somewhat even though she has a really nice, soft dog bed, donated by one of our wonderful contributors.
